Kota Takai set to join Tottenham next month
Gold shared what he knows about Takai and his impending arrival at Tottenham.
The journalist was discussing the optics of signing a relatively unknown £5m player after Daniel Levy claimed he wants to win the biggest trophies at Tottenham.
Gold conceded that this isn’t perhaps the best look for Tottenham, while noting that Takai may not officially arrive for another month.
“I guess you say all that and then the next signing coming into the club, although I don’t think he will arrive until later into next month, the next signing is then a £5m youngster who most of the public don’t know anything about won’t go down well with most of the fanbase,” Gold said.
When Kota Takai could sign for Tottenham
Takai may not arrive at Spurs until late July, and when you dig a bit deeper, that aspect of this deal does make sense.
Indeed, the J-League season is currently in full flow, and Kawasaki Frontale will not be keen to lose a key player at such a key juncture.
Kawasaki’s schedule is packed over the next few weeks up until July 20th when they have a break in their fixtures until August 9th.
It would be logical for Takai to stay with his current club up until that July 20th game before making a move to Tottenham.
Spurs fans may well want to tune into a few J-League matches over the next few weeks to get a glimpse of their incoming centre-back signing.
