Tottenham are more likely to sign 28-goal striker than Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey

Tottenham Hotspur will have to spend big to sign Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa.

Spurs showed a lot of promise in Ange Postecoglou‘s first season at the club. There were a lot of positives to take, despite the terrible end which saw them win just two of their last seven games in the Premier League.

Tottenham fans are expecting a much better season from their side in 2024/25, and they have already signed Timo Werner and Archie Gray.

Postecoglou needs a few more players, and his club have been linked with a move to sign Aston Villa star Ramsey. However, that move is not straightforward.

Tottenham have ‘stronger chance’ of signing Lois Openda and two others than Jacob Ramsey

Ramsey has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur for quite some time now.

The versatile Englishman is one of Aston Villa’s most talented players, but he had a really difficult 2023/24 season due to injuries.

Ramsey was limited to just 10 starts in all competitions as a result, but that hasn’t made Tottenham’s interest in him go away.

Tottenham offered Giovani Lo Celso plus £20 million to sign Ramsey in June, but Villa rejected that bid immediately.

Spurs remain interested in the 23-year-old, and Ben Jacobs has shared an update on the situation.

The journalist has revealed that Aston Villa don’t want to lose Ramsey this summer. So, only a big bid from Tottenham – with or without Lo Celso – will be able to seal a deal.

That’s why Jacobs has revealed that Tottenham’s chances of signing three other top players – Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Lille’s Jonathan David and RB Leipzig star Lois Openda – are much stronger.

Jacobs told : “Tottenham are still exploring whether Ramsey might be possible, but Villa don’t want to lose him, so they’re either going to have to pay big money for him, with or without Lo Celso, or they’re going to have to move on.

“And it may be that there are other players that they have a stronger chance of successfully getting, including Wolves’ Pedro Neto, Leipzig’s Lois Openda, and in a slightly different position, Lille’s Jonathan David.”

What Openda will bring to Tottenham

Goals, goals and more goals – that’s what Openda is all about.

Tottenham are yet to replace Harry Kane up front. Heung-min Son and Richarlison have been sharing the responsibility of leading the line, but it’s about time that they signed a new striker.

Openda has been linked with a move to Tottenham, and we think he would be a fine player in Postecoglou’s system.

The 24-year-old scored 28 goals in all competitions in the 2023/24 season – more than every Tottenham player.

Openda has been prolific in previous seasons too. He has scored over 20 goals in every season since the start of the 2021/22 campaign. He directly contributed to 18 goals in the season before.

That is an excellent return, and if Tottenham can sign him, we think he will take the club to a whole new level under Postecoglou.
