‘Tottenham are interested in him’: Gold claims there’s a ‘big money’ signing Spurs want to make

Alasdair Gold has said that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Jules Kounde, but his price tag makes any deal difficult to complete.
Tottenham have been linked with Kounde in recent weeks, in what looks an extremely appealing transfer.
And Gold has confirmed that he has heard that Spurs do indeed want to bring the French international to North London.
The difficulty for Spurs is that Kounde is hugely expensive, and Gold says that Tottenham would only be able to move if they sella considerable amount of players.
“Jules Kounde. People are very excited about him,” Gold said.
“Tottenham are interested in him, Tottenham do like him.
“He’s certainly a player of interest. But I would add the caveat, so are a lot of other teams.
“When I talk about Tomiyasu coming in with a cheaper price tag, Kounde will not. Not at all. His release clause is £69 million.

“He probably won’t go for that, but you’re talking big money. Tottenham would have to sell some serious players to raise the funds to bring in a player like that.”
Intriguing news
Gold’s words really do seem to play down the chances of the transfer happening, although the interest remains exciting.
If Spurs have to sell before buying, with so much interest, there may be a real possibility of a side stealing a march on them.
If Tottenham were to bring in Kounde he could help to solve their defensive issues though.
Spurs struggled at the back last term, with their current options far from convincing, but at the age of 22 Kounde is young enough and good enough to be a mainstay in their defence for years.
He could, therefore, be a worthwhile investment – although it seems that Tottenham have a considerable amount of work to do to pull off a deal.
