Tottenham are hoping their £40m player will return from injury this month

There’s no doubt that January is going to be a pivotal month for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur with both signings and injury returnees.

Postecoglou has been succeeding with a minute squad, one not quite fit for the club’s lofty ambitions this season.

And with Tottenham now firmly back in contention for a top four spot and even a title push, additions will be needed.

Radu Dragusin is a name being firmly linked, with some now even considering that the centre-back is close to joining.

And as well as the addition of a defender, Spurs are also thought to want to add a midfielder and a forward in January.

Of course, James Maddison’s injury is a catalyst for these January moves, a player who doesn’t have a natural backup in this Tottenham side.

And with that being said, have now shared an update on when Maddison may return.

The England midfielder has been recovering from ankle ligament damage sustained almost two months ago.

And according to this report, it is now hoped that he will be able to return from his issue later this month.

Tottenham’s James Maddison expected to return from injury in late January

Perhaps Maddison may now be targeting a return against Brentford right before the end of the month.

The fixture schedule once again ramps up come February and Maddison’s return would therefore be incredibly welcome.

A deal for Maddison now looks an absolute bargain, a player who inspired positive change almost immediately.

And whilst it may be hard to find such value in the January transfer window, Daniel Levy will surely push to do so.

Although a deal won’t come cheap, Tottenham are now said to be interested in a deal for a player who already has a huge admirer at the club.

There’s bound to be a lot of change for Tottenham in January, and the likes of Maddison and Micky van de Ven returning from injury will provide important stability.

Although Cristian Romero has been surprising Spurs staff this season with his new characteristics, he’s unlikely to return to the pitch until February – making swift January additions even more important.
