Tottenham are expected to make an offer for ‘unbelievable’ £40m player soon
Journalist Ben Jacobs has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur are the team to watch in the race to sign one Premier League player, with Spurs expected to make an offer in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham will be looking to kick on after what was a promising first year under Ange Postecoglou, and clearly, the middle of the park is one area which requires fairly urgent attention.
Yves Bissouma could be sold, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg may depart after struggling for starts this past season. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur did not have his best form after returning from long-term injury.
One player who has been heavily linked with Tottenham over the last few months is Conor Gallagher, with the Chelsea player out of contract at the end of next season.
Tottenham willing to offer up to £40 million for Conor Gallagher
Chelsea have previously encouraged clubs to make a bid for Gallagher, and it seems that Tottenham are ready to oblige – but not at the price the Blues necessarily want for the ‘unbelievable‘ England international.
Speaking on , Ben Jacobs suggested that Spurs could soon confirm their interest in the midfielder with an offer.

“Tottenham, on the other hand, are expected to bid at some point. They valued, 12 months ago, Gallagher at £35 million, I don’t think they’ll go as high as £50 million, they might go to somewhere around the £40 million mark at a top end, so let’s wait and see if that develops. But they’re the club to watch for Gallagher at the moment,” he said.
Spurs could be close to selling one star
Tottenham could soon receive a boost to their funds, with Fenerbahce set to send officials to try and seal a move for Hojbjerg, with Jose Mourinho seemingly keen on being reunited with the Dane.
Hojbjerg’s departure will leave a void given that he rarely let the side down when he did play for Spurs, and Postecoglou put a lot of faith in him despite not often naming him in his starting lineups.
It did appear that he had his limitations when it came to adapting to Postecoglou’s style, and that is where Gallagher may thrive with his relentless energy. He is also a leader having captained Chelsea at times over this past season.
It would be a coup for Tottenham to make a move, and they may feel that they are in a strong position if Chelsea are unable to agree a new contract with Gallagher over the coming months.
