Tottenham appointing manager would be a surprise, but 23-year-old would benefit
Tottenham Hotspur would be making a massively surprising appointment if they chose to go down the route of appointing Swansea City boss Steve Cooper, amid reports – but Joe Rodon would massively benefit from his arrival.
that 41-year-old Cooper – the man who guided the likes of Phil Foden and Emile Smith-Rowe to Under-17 World Cup success back in 2017 – is on Tottenham’s radar as they look to find a new manager.
While the favourites remain in the form of Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers, Eddie Howe and even Fulham boss Scott Parker – Cooper is a name that could be pursued should Spurs struggle to find the right successor.
However, one feather in Cooper’s cap would be the presence of Rodon at Tottenham – who has enjoyed an indifferent start to life at Spurs. Initially, the Wales international struggled for game time but has since been given more of a go.

Rodon played 26 of his 54 appearances for Swansea under the guidance of Cooper – shining in the season prior to earning a £15million () move to North London. Following his brief stint with Cooper, he has blossomed.
Becoming a Premier League player and first-choice for his country, Rodon has seriously benefited from the year he spent in Cooper’s stewardship. Cooper, then, at Tottenham would only continue to improve the defender.
Cooper would be a massively surprising appointment given the size of the club and his lack of experience – certainly at the top level. But if Spurs are to hire him, Rodon’s emergence under him will surely play a part.
Indeed, an even-further improved Rodon under Cooper could save Tottenham a lot of money in the transfer market going forward – something that will obviously be to Daniel Levy’s liking. But right now, he remains an outsider.
