Tottenham and Chelsea both now want Premier League 22-year-old
Journalist Darren Lewis has shared what he has been told about interest from Tottenham and Chelsea in Illan Meslier.
Spurs have been linked with the 22-year-old Frenchman as they look for a long-term replacement for his countryman Hugo Lloris.
Lloris made another mistake in Sunday’s north London derby defeat against Arsenal, scoring an own goal after flapping Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net.
Lewis spoke to the Last Word on Spurs podcast on about Meslier, and said Antonio Conte faces competition from Chelsea and Bayern Munich, among other clubs, for him.

Tottenham and Chelsea like Meslier
Lewis said: “One name that I’ve heard (for Spurs), to be fair he has admirers up and down the Premier League, is Meslier at Leeds.
“He’s a young keeper. Bayern Munich are really big fans of him, Chelsea like him too. Lot of people like him.”
Bayern Munich are trying to deal with the injury to Manuel Neuer, and of course longer term, finding a replacement for the German legend.
At Chelsea, neither Edouard Mendy or Kepa inspires huge confidence, and they have money to burn, as well as being unafraid about spending it.
In November, Meslier was hailed as ‘unbelievable‘ by Sky Sports’ Paul Merson for a save in the thrilling 4-3 win over Bournemouth.
He looks to have a huge future and could well go on to become France’s number one – and Lloris has just retired from international football.
It seems hugely unlikely he will leave this month, but by the summer, the situation could be influenced by whether Leeds are still in the Premier League or not.
