‘Top, top player’… Luton Town boss Rob Edwards blown away by 24-year-old Arsenal player last night
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards has claimed that Arsenal star Declan Rice is a ‘top, top player’ following the game last night.
The Gunners were made to work hard at Kenilworth Road. David Raya’s errors made the game a lot more difficult, but Rice stepped up in the 97th minute and won the game for Arsenal.

Luton Town manager Rob Edwards praises Arsenal’s Declan Rice
Arsenal signed Declan Rice for a club-record fee in the summer.
The Englishman was already one of the best players in the Premier League at West Ham, and he seems to have gone up a level since joining the Gunners.
Rice is yet to put a foot wrong in an Arsenal shirt. He has been incredible in the middle of the park – be it as a number eight or in his usual defensive midfield role.
What has made it even better for the Gunners is how Rice has chipped in with goals. He has scored the winner against Manchester United and Luton now in stoppage time, and he is proving to be worth every penny.
Edwards revealed after the game last night that he had a chat with Brentford boss Thomas Frank about conceding late against Arsenal. He then praised the Gunners’ ‘world-class’ quality’ and hailed Rice.
He said, as relayed on : “I spoke to Thomas Frank about Arsenal the other day. He was obviously disappointed they lost to a late goal the other day as well not long ago against them. He said, in the end, it’s world-class quality from Saka and Havertz.
“Tonight, the cross is on the money as you know it’s going to be, and Declan Rice – top, top player – heading it in. It was decided by top players.”
Arsenal star Declan Rice is world-class
Everybody knew Declan Rice was going to be a huge success at Arsenal, but there were concerns over how quickly he would adapt and if the pressure of the price tag would affect him.
The Englishman hit the ground running and the fact that nobody has brought up his price tag shows he has been sensational this season.
Rice is already one of the best players in the world, but he is nowhere near his prime. He is still just 24 years old, and he will get much better in the coming years.
Arsenal take on Aston Villa next in what will be a difficult game. However, if Rice plays at his usual level, the Gunners will back themselves to pick up all three points.
