‘Top quality’: Some Spurs fans in awe of one player’s display tonight – Gil aside
Spurs cruised into the Europa Conference League group stage thanks to a 3-1 aggregate win over Pacos de Ferreira.
Harry Kane, making his first start since confirming he’d stay at Tottenham, bagged a brace in north London.
The Spurs talisman opened the scoring after just nine minutes, rifling home following a superb pass from Bryan Gil.

Kane then doubled Tottenham’s lead and turned the tie around when he slammed a low drive into the corner shortly before the break.
Spurs then put the result – of the match and tie – beyond doubt when Giovani Lo Celso forced an own goal from Vitorino Antunes.
The north Londoners won 3-0 on the night in a much-improved display from that which saw them lose 1-0 in Portugal.
While plenty of Tottenham players shone on the night, there was plenty of praise for two of the newcomers.
Gil delivered an incredible display, while Cristian Romero also won plaudits for his performance, which suggests he’s already finding his feet at N17.

As well as being solid at the back, Romero was also eager to get involved further up the pitch.
He delivered a great early ball to put Kane through on goal, and generally looked confident stepping out and going further forward.
Here is what some Spurs fans said about Romero’s display on Twitter:
This has been great to watch so far, Romero looks amazing, Gil been excellent and always nice to see Kane score 😍

Superb time to take a few off Kane Romero and Gil got too play Sunday

Watched the game live and the real standouts were Gil and Romero. Both had absolutely brilliant performances. Elsewhere Moura was good as usual, Kane clearly hasn’t lost his finishing boots and Doherty and Davies looked questionable. Elsewhere decent performances all around.

Romero looks exciting, not sure if that’s a good thing yet 😂 Gil & lo celso very good today. Still silly mistakes at the back but nice to see Kane scoring goals in a spurs shirt . We look good up top but still short in midfield & defence.

Get romero in the side for Sunday please

Romero could be a key player in breaking down those low blocks at home in the PL. The unmarked man going forward from deep

Gil is twice as good as the overhyped Sessegnon already.

Romero is a typical Argentinian centre-back, top quality.
