Top-flight player claims Arsenal star ‘had everything’ from day one

Charlie Mulgrew that he knew that Kieran Tierney had every chance of reaching the top from their first training session together, insisting that the Arsenal star had everything you would want from day one.

Tierney has been a fan favourite throughout his career. Of course, he had a special bond with Celtic supporters being one himself.

And he quickly established himself amongst the Arsenal fanbase as one who would give everything for the cause. In fact, it is commonly said on social media that he is a future club captain.

But it appears that Tierney is just as popular with his teammates. Mulgrew has shared how impressed he was when the left-back started pushing himself onto the radar at Parkhead.

“It’s always easy in hindsight to talk about players who are at the top of the game, as he is now. But you could see he had a right good chance literally from day one,” .

“I think he’d admit himself, technically, he needed a bit of work. But as far as defending and attitude was concerned he had everything. I’m delighted he’s gone on to prove that.”

Tierney was one of the handful of players to stand out during Mikel Arteta’s first full campaign at the Emirates. It was a disappointing year. But Tierney was one of the few who was rarely criticised.

And even when the 24-year-old was not being praised, it was not due to a lack of effort or passion.

He set the standard on that front. And it is not hard to believe that that desire is now having an impact on the rest of the squad.

Tierney is one of those who appears to have a full appreciation for what he gets to do in his career.

And you would imagine that it is much easier for Arteta to see who it matters less to with Tierney in the ranks giving everything.
