Top five ‘break-through’ youngsters at Euro 2016 feat. Manchester United and Real Madrid stars
Leroy Sané
Leroy Sané is another young talent travelling to the tournament and will largely be used as back-up in his time with the German squad. If there is an injury within the group of more established players, or if he impresses early, he on he may be able to earn more game time during the competition and show what he can do to the wider world. The winger is only 20-years-old and is still considered a rough diamond, occasionally still making considerable mistakes.
It is unlikely that the youngster will get much game time ahead of the likes of Andre Schurrle, but if he does he should take it for everything it is worth.
Sané is considered to be one of the biggest German talents in some time and has already received two caps for the German national side. The Schalke attacker has been linked with Manchester City in recent months, so if he impressed at the Euros he may be a well sought after youngster this summer.
Marcus Rashford
The player that perhaps does not need to ‘break through’ as much as others – but has an equal chance to impress – is young England forward Marcus Rashford. He recently scored in his first ever international appearance and has since had his place at the tournament confirmed by Roy Hodgson.
Of course, the pressure may be too much and he may end up being a flop and required to re-prove himself in future international games. However, when you look at the records that the 18-year-old has broken already, alongside how many big games that he has performed in, he certainly looks to be able to cope with pressure of this magnitude.
If he impresses at the tournament, then he will warrant the new contract he has reportedly signed with Manchester United, and may eventually follow in the footsteps of the likes of David Beckham and Michael Owen by moving to a club of the calibre of Real Madrid, should he be deemed such a talent in a few years’ time.
The player certainly has the natural ability, but whether he has the demeanor and personality on the pitch to perform at such a huge tournament is yet to be seen.
