Tony Watt responds to Aston Villa fan when asked about Rangers star Alfredo Morelos

Tony Watt has responded to an Aston Villa fan on Twitter when asked if Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos would impress in the Premier League – and ex-Celtic man Watt believes he would be a success in England’s top tier.

Morelos, 23, has scored 25 goals this season for Steven Gerrard’s side but failed to find the back of the net on Sunday as Celtic made it 10 domestic trophies in a row with a 1-0 win. Morelos had a nightmare in front of goal, thanks to Fraser Forster.

Southampton loanee Forster produced a man-of-the-match display to keep a clean sheet, saving a Morelos penalty and denying Morelos from open play on numerous occasions. The Colombia international cut a frustrated figure at the end of the match.

Aston Villa are just one of a handful of Premier League clubs eyeing £20million-rated Morelos, and Watt was asked if he could still hack it in England’s top flight despite his struggle on Sunday – and Watt says he would be a success.

TBR’s view – Morelos a £20m striker and worth every penny

Unfortunately for the ex-HJK Helsinki striker, Morelos simply came up against a goalkeeper that was in world class form. Yes, Morelos should have scored but every striker has an off day – it does not change the fact that he is arguably the best in Scotland.

If a Premier League club is willing to pay £20million for Morelos, then they will be repaid instantly. His value, as a young player, will only increase and certainly, he has the quality to see that price tag sky rocket in the Premier League.
