Tony Dorigo tells Leeds fans what they can expect from new signing Junior Firpo
Leeds United completed the signing of Junior Firpo from Barcelona this week, announcing a deal on Tuesday. It sees Leeds end their search for a long-term solution at left-back. Now, what Leeds fans can expect from their newest addition.
Firpo, 24, penned a four-year deal at Leeds this week which will keep him at Elland Road until the summer of 2025. A deal is believed to have cost Leeds around £13.5million up front – and more in add-ons. Barcelona confirmed that they are due 20% of any future fee Leeds sell him for.
It sees Leeds end their search for a left-back. Dorigo, a left-back himself at Leeds back in the day, has explained to Leeds fans what they can expect from their latest signing.

“This one is really interesting. When I started looking and watching and seeing where he has come from and his age and everything else, he kind of fits it perfectly,” . “There’s no doubt he has got all the attributes. He goes forward fantastically well.
“He has got great balance and ability getting forward and such a turn of pace as well. I think that’s the big difference. He seems so comfortable on the ball and getting forward. He looks to have the physique and certainly the pace and the ability to do that [get up and down the line].”
Firpo is another step towards Europe for growing Leeds
Leeds finished in a lofty ninth position last season and with the Europa Conference League now an actual competition – Europe really is not out of their reach. Adding Firpo to Marcelo Bielsa’s side sees them cover a base that needed filling. Now, Leeds need a midfielder.
It is a real statement of intent. While he is cheap, it is a massive coup to be able to convince a Barcelona player to join Leeds. Especially when Milan, who qualified for the Champions League, were also keen. A brilliant bit of business for Leeds, one step closer to Europe.
