Tony Dorigo expects Jack Harrison to retain Leeds position against Newcastle

Tony Dorigo has predicted that Leeds United’s Jack Harrison will be given the nod to start tonight against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Whites host Newcastle at Elland Road in a league fixture, which will be the first meeting between the two clubs since April 2017 in the Championship.

Newcastle have become an established side in the top-flight since their promotion that year, while Leeds are now back in the Premier League and survival in their first season back in the big time is the aim.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are currently 14th in the league table and have impressed neutrals with their style of football, but have hit a bump in the road with four defeats in their last six games.

Harrison, who earns £15,000-a-week () and is on a season-long loan from Manchester City, is one of several individuals that have seen their levels dip by just five per cent.

The 24-year-old winger has started every single league fixture apart from against parent club Man City, but was taken off at half-time against West Ham in the previous game and is without a goal since the opening day of the season.

Dorigo is confident though that Argentine manager Bielsa is going to stick by him tonight.

“Harrison hasn’t been at his best recently, but we know what quality he’s got. I’m sure he’ll get another chance [against Newcastle],”

TBR’s View:

Harrison is a brilliant left-footed winger that has been so integral to Bielsa’s XI during his time at Elland Road and he’s shown for large parts of this season he belongs in the top-flight, with one goal and three assists so far.

But the wide player does appear to have lost his clinical touch recently and perhaps bringing him out of the firing line could be a smart move for one gameweek.

Bielsa tends to steer away from constant rotation, but the fixtures are hectic during December and the midweek clash with Newcastle could be a good time for some fresh faces.
