Tony Cascarino suggests £40m Tottenham player will be unhappy with Ange Postecoglou after West Ham win
Tottenham might have hammered West Ham yesterday but Tony Cascarino feels one Spurs star will be unhappy with the manager right now.
Spurs saw off the Hammers with ease as they hit four past them and on another day, they could have scored even more.
For Ange Postecoglou, the number one priority is winning games of football and over his career, he’s shown he can win and make decisions in doing so.
Against West Ham, Postecoglou made the big call to take James Maddison off at half-time.
Maddison has not been at his very best ever since being injured last season. And according to Tony Cascarino, Maddison will not be happy with the half-time withdrawal.

James Maddison told his Tottenham place is under threat
Writing in his latest column for , Cascarino has suggested that Maddison is potentially on thin ice now when it comes to his automatic selection in the first XI.
“I liked that he was prepared to make a big call and withdraw James Maddison at half-time. It would have sent a message to every player that their place is not assured after the Brighton debacle. Maddison was a big signing last year and I have no doubt he would have taken the timing of the substitution personally,” Cascarino said.
“Winning 4-1 would not change anything for him. I was once hooked at the break playing for Ireland against Macedonia and I felt embarrassed and thought I had been made a scapegoat. All players would feel that way.
“Postecoglou can manage the situation but Maddison may reflect on his delivery, especially from corners, and work rate. Maddison is no longer a promising young player. He turns 28 next month and needs to impose himself on matches. He finds himself out of the England squad and his starting place for Spurs is no longer guaranteed.”
Maddison has to do more for Spurs
This has been a bit of a consistent theme really for Maddison but there is no doubt he isn’t playing at the level everyone knows he can.
When he first signed, he was a breath of fresh air and instantly improved Tottenham.
However, right now, there are others at Tottenham who are doing the business and ultimately, Postecoglou has proven here he won’t stand for sub-par performances.
Maddison, put simply, has to step up to the plate and if he doesn’t, he’ll soon find himself on the bench.
