Tony Cascarino names four Tottenham players who have declined in recent times
Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has named Tottenham quartet Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose as underperforming just months after they started the Champions League final.
As Cascarino picked out those four as having declined in form as Spurs in general have struggled this term.
He : “The problem is that too many players are not as good as they were 18 months ago. Where has Dele Alli been for the past year or so? Danny Rose is not quite as good defensively and not as quick.
“Too many errors are creeping into Jan Vertonghen and [Toby] Alderweireld’s performances. The lack of signings over the past few windows has led to complacency in the squad.”

TBR’s View – Pochettino paying the price for Tottenham’s failure to rejuvenate squad
It’s looking bleak for Tottenham right now but some of the easy conclusions to draw; the players have downed tools, the manager has run out of ideas or there isn’t the quality in the squad – are not applicable.
Pochettino has been giving the same messages to largely the same group of players for too long and Daniel Levy’s failure to deal with contract situations and ensure the smooth gradual evolution of the Argentine’s squad has led to a situation where both sides have reached a stalemate.
Alli will likely return to top form and but the three experienced defenders have perhaps been allowed to remain for too long, given that their long-term futures remain unsecured.
