Tony Cascarino makes claim about Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum; isn’t convinced by Thiago
Tony Cascarino has claimed that a big part of Liverpool’s woes are down to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, telling that Gini Wijnaldum looks exhausted.
The pundit used his column to discuss the club’s horrendous title defence and he believes the root cause of the problem comes in the middle of the park.
Liverpool have endured some rotten luck with injuries this season but that can’t be an excuse for losing four successive games at Anfield.
Saturday’s defeat to Everton compounded the club’s misery and leaves them with an uphill battle to reclaim a Champions League spot.

Following the miserable weekend display, Cascarino believes that Wijnaldum is burnt out in midfield.
“I think Liverpool’s midfield is as much of a problem for them at the moment as their defence.
“The best trio is Gino Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho but because two of those have spent big parts of the season playing at the back or injured, Wijnamdum looks exhausted.
“Thiago is clearly a class player on the ball but he gives away a lot of fouls and I’m not sure Liverpool are a better team with him there.”
TBR View: Klopp has to take the blame for midfield woes
Liverpool have blown some silly points of late and not utilising Henderson and Fabinho in midfield has cost them. That is on Klopp.
Last season the midfield proved the catalyst for Liverpool’s attack to express themselves and that’s not been evident this season.
Some will point to the injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as the reason behind the slump but they should have been able to cope better.

Wijnladum has been a massive player for the club but he might not be at Anfield next season.
The midfielder is out of contract and at the moment nothing seems to be on the horizon in the way of an extension.
Fabinho has recently returned to training. Klopp could get his team ticking again by resisting the urge to play him at the back and utilise him in his natural midfield role instead.
