Tony Cascarino lauds 30-year-old Everton star, suggests he’s a big player
Tony Cascarino has told that Andros Townsend has become integral to the fortunes of Everton.
The 30-year-old scored his fifth goal in nine games in the 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Saturday.
Everton have made a pretty decent start to life under Rafa Benitez. The Toffees sit fifth with four wins from their seven Premier League matches.
Given his ties to Liverpool, his arrival was met with some angst.

Of course, the best way to win over the Everton faithful will be to continue winning football matches.
Townsend was perhaps a bizarre signing in the summer. He had hardly been pulling up trees with Crystal Palace but Benitez has got a tune out of him.
After signing on a free transfer he is proving a quality piece of business and Cascarino has been singing his praises.
“We rightly praise the recruitment teams for the hard work they do but sometimes transfers, such as that of Andros Townsend at Everton, are more intuitive.
“Townsend was not the most popular signing when he arrived at Goodison Park but he now has five goals in nine appearances in all competitions for Everton.
“The 30-year-old has quickly taken centre-stage at Everton.”
Bang in form: Townsend can become Everton hit
The experienced performer is in arguably the form of his career and that can only bode well for Everton.
It’s fair to say that Carlo Ancelotti underachieved at Everton. As a result, there isn’t a great deal of pressure on Benitez and right now, it’s showing.

His team have been free-flowing, confident and appear to be all pulling in the same direction.
Townsend wasn’t the most exciting addition the club has made in recent years, but he is showcasing why he was signed.
Everton fans will be hoping his strong form can continue for the remainder of the campaign.
