Tony Cascarino blasts Danny Rose’s England performance in Czech Republic loss
Tottenham defender Danny Rose is ‘becoming a liability’ for England after his performance in Friday night’s 2-1 loss against Czech Republic, according to former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino.
He laid into the £60,000-a-week () defender in after the Three Lions lost their first qualifier for over ten years in Prague.
Cascarino : “The defence is by far the most concerning area of the England team. They just didn’t work well in tandem. I don’t see them keeping many clean sheets, and it’s not a good sign when a team is so poor at defending set pieces.
“Michael Keane is not really England calibre: he gets sucked into other areas of the pitch, leaving his centre-half position. Danny Rose is becoming a liability at left back because of the regularity of his yellow cards — [Friday] night’s was his fifth in six England appearances.”

TBR’s View – Rose is worth his place in the squad but Chilwell should now be England’s first choice
The way Gareth Southgate has stuck with Rose is admirable and he is still worthy of being in the England squad – owing partially to a lack of competition.
But now Ben Chilwell must be given the chance to establish himself as England’s best left back, especially while Rose toils to rediscover his form at club level.
Five yellow cards in six internationals, when you consider the calibre of opposition England have faced, is a fairly clear indicator that Rose is being caught out of position too much. Chilwell should be the man in possession of the shirt from now on.
