Tom Rogic’s return to form could be bad news for Ryan Christie

Celtic fans will be desperately relieved to see Tom Rogic back to his best.

When in full swing, the Australia international is majestic to watch. He picks passes with ease, sets up goals and scores himself as well.

But he started the season in an uncharacteristically slow fashion.

Perhaps it was burnout after playing for Australia at the World Cup. Or perhaps it was a distraction after signing a new long-term deal at Celtic.

But whatever it was that was affecting Rogic’s form, it gave an opportunity to Ryan Christie.

The 23-year-old has had few opportunities to impress at Celtic since his 2015 switch from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

But after a successful loan spell at Aberdeen and with Rogic dropped to the bench, Christie started against Kilmarnock recently.

However, he has since been relegated to the bench again and Rogic has now returned to form.

The 25-year-old was instrumental in the 6-0 win at St Johnstone, contributing to four goals.

And he followed that up with a goal for Australia and then a strike against Hibernian.

It seems like Rogic is well and truly back to his best and this is bad news for Christie.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, it looks like Christie is running out of opportunities to earn himself an extension.
