Tom Davies says he’s rewatched matches to study Everton teammate Allan

Everton midfielder Tom Davies has claimed he’s rewatched games from the start of the season to study teammate Allan, who has made an excellent start to his Goodison Park career.

Davies, 22, is a young talent that has come through the academy ranks at the Merseyside club and is part of a group that sit top of the Premier League table after winning four from four.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been massively boosted by the arrival of some excellent signings in the transfer window, including the duo of James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Allan, who was signed from Napoli for £25million (), is another summer recruit to hit the ground running and he’s quickly adjusted to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old Brazilian is a no-nonsense defensive midfield that has added real security in front of the backline and is aggressive in his tackling, as well as bringing real leadership on the pitch.

Davies got the chance to start the game against Brighton before the international break due to Allan’s injury absence and the youngster admitted he’s been watching his senior teammate in his spare time.

“He (Allan) is brilliant in that position and has been top-quality since he’s come in,”

“I’ve been looking at what he does while he’s been playing and watched a few of the games back. To learn and pick up things from a player like Allan is an opportunity for me and I want to take those things onto the pitch.

Everton attacker Rodriguez is understandably stealing the headlines for his excellent performances of late, but Allan is such an influence in the centre of the park and it looks like a replacement for Idrissa Gueye has finally been found.

It’s going to be great for all of the Everton young players to pick up tips from players that have performed consistently on the top stage and it shows great maturity from Davies to admit he’s been closely following his teammate
