‘Told us for years’: Keown thinks Tottenham boss Conte is now saying the exact same thing as Arsene Wenger

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has spotted an interesting similarity between Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger.
The Italian is up there with the best managers in world football. He is a proven winner and his aim at the start of every single season is to pick up all the trophies that are up for grabs.
At Tottenham, things haven’t quite been the same for Conte. He has had to lower his expectations and even claimed recently that finishing in the top four is as good as winning a trophy this season. ()
Keown has definitely heard that before.
Martin Keown: Antonio Conte has said the same thing as Arsene Wenger
The legendary Englishman, while previewing the top-four race, pointed out how Conte’s comments were exactly the same as what Wenger used to say at Arsenal all those years ago.
Keown wrote in his column on : “Arsene Wenger told us for years that finishing fourth was like winning a trophy and now Spurs boss Antonio Conte is saying the same.
“It is striking how Arsenal and Tottenham’s run-ins nearly mirror each other. Of their remaining fixtures, both clubs have to face the same eight opponents — as well as each other.
“Arsenal and Tottenham will see securing Champions League football as a way to relaunch their clubs back into the big time and it is shaping up to be one almighty battle.”

When Arsene Wenger made the same claim as Antonio Conte, he didn’t quite have the resources or the team that Tottenham have now. However, his comments were still ridiculed.
The Spurs boss now saying the exact same thing shows just how difficult it is to secure a place in the top four.
Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham and the two North London clubs are all eyeing a place in the Champions League next season and, as things stand, Arsenal are the favourites.
However, Spurs have the more experienced team and it really won’t be a surprise to see Conte lead his side to finish above the Gunners at the end of this season.
