Toby Alderweireld shares message on Twitter, some Spurs fans respond
Tottenham Hotspur ace Toby Alderweireld has taken to social media with a heartfelt message after reaching a century of caps with Belgium.
The Spurs defender captained his nation in Tuesday night’s UEFA Nations League win over Iceland in Brussels, a 13th consecutive victory for the number 1 ranked side in world football.
Iceland began brightly, with Holmbert Fridjonsson opening the scoring in the 11th minute via a deflection, but Belgium struck back with two goals before the 20-minute mark.

Axel Witsel equalised on the rebound from Dries Mertens’ free kick before Michy Batshuayi made the most of Ogmundur Kristinsson’s spillage to put the hosts in front.
The second half saw Belgium net a further three goals, through Batshuayi, Mertens and Jeremy Doku, for an emphatic 5-1 victory.
Alderweireld’s appearance on the night meant he has become just the fourth Belgian to reach 100 caps, along with Eden Hazard, Axel Witsel, and former Spurs teammate Jan Vertonghen.
Here is what the 31-year-old wrote on social media:
💯 up! It is an honour every time I pull on the shirt. A big thank you to everyone that has helped me to achieve this milestone along the way 🇧🇪❤️
