‘To think people wanted him sold’: Some West Ham fans hail one player’s display v Manchester City
A number of West Ham United fans have praised Issa Diop following his superb display against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
The 24-year-old is yet to play in the Premier League this season for the Hammers, but he’s played a big part in two amazing cup victories.
Diop shone for West Ham in the third-round win over Manchester United and has followed it up with a masterclass against the Red Devils’ city rivals.

The Frenchman weighed in with numerous tackles and blocks against Pep Guardiola’s side, and made several clearances too.
West Ham kept a clean sheet in the 90 minutes, taking City to penalties, where they overcame the reigning Premier League champions.
Phil Foden put the visitors’ opening penalty wide, while West Ham scored all of theirs to progress to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2018.
Diop has looked much improved this season, and his 100th appearance in claret and blue saw him put in an outstanding display.
West Ham fans were eager to praise his latest display:
Can we actually appreciate just how good Issa Diop is.

He has been so solid this season and is in my view ready to step in when Ogbonna retires.
Outstanding.
Issa Diop man of the match. To think people wanted him sold. Clearly the coaching staff have been working on him individually.
