Timo Werner has shared what he told Ange Postecoglou before signing for Tottenham Hotspur after registering another assist on Wednesday.
Timo Werner certainly played his part as Spurs came from behind to beat Brentford. It was arguably a performance which showcased both sides of the forward’s game.
Werner had a key role in Tottenham’s first two goals of the evening as they made an unbelievable start to the second-half. It came after Werner had missed a good chance in the first-half, and was seemingly struggling with his final passes at the key moments.

But the 27-year-old is undoubtedly off to a very bright start in his Tottenham career when you consider that few would have backed the forward for a Premier League return this month.
However, it seems that Werner is not surprised by how productive he has been for his teammates. Before signing, he informed Ange Postecoglou that he loves creating chances for others.
“That’s exactly what I talked about with the manager when he called me. I learned over my time in the Premier League that not always goals are counting. Of course, goals for an offensive player are the best you can do. But at the end of the call I told him I love to do assists as well. If we count it, that’s three assists and that’s exactly why I’m here. That’s exactly what he told me as well, that this football and myself fit together and we will enjoy it,” he said in .
Loan spell off to promising start
Werner did not technically provide the assist for Tottenham’s first goal against the Bees. But he has quickly established himself as someone who can really contribute.
In fairness, he scored 23 goals and contributed 21 assists for Chelsea. And he nearly brought up a half-century of assists at RB Leipzig.
Dejan Kulusevski began his Tottenham career with a raft of assists during his first few months on loan.
Spurs fans will have few complaints if Werner goes on to do the same.
