‘Time to move on’… Alan Hutton says Tottenham need to get rid of their £10m player soon
There’s been a revolution at Tottenham since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, but there are still a few remnants of a bygone era in north London right now.
Indeed, while the likes of Micky Van de Ven and James Maddison have been revolutionary at Spurs, the likes of Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier still very much feel like Mauricio Pochettino players.
Speaking to , Alan Hutton has been discussing Tottenham’s current defensive issues, and he’s less than impressed by the fact that Ben Davies and Dier are still being relied upon at this point in time, claiming that it’s probably time to move on from both of these players.

Time to move on
Hutton gave his verdict on Dier and the man.
“As we see at this moment in time, they’ve had to turn to Ben Davies and to replace Van De Ven, and I think it is probably about time to move on from those pair,” Hutton said.
Shame
It’s sad to say it about two players who have been such great servants for Tottenham, but Hutton is right, it is time for Dier and Davies to move on.
These two are still good players, and they would offer a lot to a number of other clubs, but in this Spurs team, they’re past their sell-by date.
Fans don’t have much patience with them anymore, while they don’t really fit into what Postecoglou wants from his defenders either.
Spurs need to add more quality depth at the back if they are to compete for the top trophies in the coming years, and in order to do that, they need to free up some space by letting Dier and Davies go.
It’s the end of an era at Tottenham, but Spurs can’t afford to cling onto these types of players who aren’t offering what they used to.
