Time running out for Leeds striker Sam Dalby after just five minutes of action on loan at Morecambe
Leeds United signed Sam Dalby from Leyton Orient in January 2018 and 12 months later, he was loaned out to League Two club Morecambe.
Dalby needed to get some first-team minutes under his belt after impressing for the Leeds youth team.
With 19 senior games to his name with the O’s, Dalby was handed a glorious chance to impress Marcelo Bielsa on loan at Morecambe.
But the 19-year-old has struggled to get going with the Shrimps. In fact, Jim Bentley has only used the young striker twice all season.
Both of those games were late cameos; one minute in the loss against Bury and four minutes in the defeat at home to Lincoln City.

With just five minutes of action to his name, Dalby’s loan spell with Morecambe is proving to be a disaster that could hamper his long-term Leeds hopes.
Dalby’s unproductive loan spell has only been made worse by the success of the other young strikers on Leeds’ books.
Tyler Roberts is a permanent fixture in the first-team, Mateusz Bogusz is knocking on the door after joining in January, Ryan Edmondson is thriving in the under-23 team and Mallik Wilks is firing the goals in on loan at Doncaster Rovers.
Meanwhile, Dalby is struggling to break into a lower-half League Two team. With one year remaining on his contract after this season, Dalby’s future at Leeds looks increasingly uncertain.
