Tim Sherwood says Tottenham star is the reason for player’s £3.5m exit under Ange Postecoglou
Cristian Romero continues to establish himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur – and Tim Sherwood believes he is the reason another player left in January.
Romero and Micky van de Ven continue to shine in the middle of t♋he defence, with Romero’s desire to step out of defence and win the ball combining perfectly with van de Ven’s pace to cover him in behind.
Dier was never preferred by Ange Postecoglou ไduring the first half of the season – with the Aussie boss often preferring Ben Davie🎃s and Emerson Royal at centre-back, when his best options were unavailable.
It saw Dier leave in January, reuniting with Harry Kane at Bayern Munich – and Bayern’s signing is starring in Germany, breaking records. He said he needed a fresh start away from Spurs, he’s got that.
Speaking on this week though, form💯er Tottenham man Sherwood believes the reason Dier went t🃏o Bayern and left Spurs is because Romero is willing to stay high up the field.

“That’s why Eric Dier isn’t at the club anymore. Romero isn’t the quic𝕴kest. Him and Eric would probably be as quick as each other. But he is prepared to stay high up the field. He gets contact. He is nasty.
“He is street-wise and💟 📖he is willing to be a partner to this guy (van de Ven), who just rescues everything. Look at him, the pace to get back in there,” Sherwood said, discussing Tottenham’s defence this week.
Tim Sherwood says Cristian Romero why Eric Dier left Tottenham
Dier is really impressing over at Bayern and it is likely that the England man might have just needed a new club and a fre🍬sh perspective on things to reignite his career. He is certainly doing that in Germany.
Even with Bayern nꦉot at theꦰir best, Dier is pushing his way into the side despite the competition of Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt and Kim Min-jae. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Dier in the England side.
