Tim Sherwood says manager reportedly on Spurs radar is ‘top drawer’
Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Brendan Rodgers has been described by Tim Sherwood as a “top drawer” coach who has “overachieved” in the past few years.
Tottenham are on the lookout for a new head coach in wake of Jose Mourinho’s sacking, and Rodgers has been heavily linked with the Spurs reins.
“Rodgers is certainly someone who has admirers at Tottenham, and has done for a long time,” ‘s Alasdair Gold wrote earlier in May.
The 48-year-old has worked wonders at Leicester over the past few years and lifted the FA Cup – the first in the club’s history – earlier this month.
However, he has failed to secure Champions League qualification on the final day of the Premier League season for the second year in a row.
Leicester lost 4-2 to Spurs in Sunday’s league finale, and after the game, Rodgers spoke to about his opponents’ strength in depth.
“He has overachieved the last two seasons, they shouldn’t be near the top four… he is a top drawer manager who overachieves with his group,” Sherwood said on .
“They have won a domestic trophy, which is a tremendous return – he is talking about the Tottenham squad and what they can bring off their bench – likes of Gareth Bale, it will be interesting to see if he could be tempted into that job.”

Spurs have a lot of work to do this summer in not only bringing in a new managers but also adding to a team in dire need of bolstering.
Rodgers, as an experienced and progressive manager with a superb CV, would be a great call for Tottenham.
But realistically, why would he leave Leicester, a club running so smoothly and firmly on the up, for a club in need of major surgery?
