Tim Sherwood says £60m player would’ve really helped James Maddison at Tottenham

Tottenham have started poorly this season, and questions are starting to be asked of Spurs.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s side seem to have lost something this season, and they look bereft of both confidence and ideas lately.

This time 12 months ago, Spurs were flying high at the top of the table, but now, they’re closer to the relegation zone than they are the Premier League summit.

So, what’s the problem at Spurs?

Speaking on , Tim Sherwood has claimed that Tottenham need more guile in the midfield, and he reckons that Eberechi Eze would’ve been the perfect signing for Tottenham this summer.

Eberechi Eze would’ve been perfect for Tottenham

Sherwood shared his view on the man and the impact he would have at Spurs.

“Someone like Eze would’ve been a perfect signing for me if they were to buy him. He would’ve been out there assisting Maddison, they need more guile in there, I don’t think Kulusevski is doing enough,” Sherwood said.

Eberechi Eze deal wasn’t possible

Tottenham were interested in signing Eberechi Eze this summer, but a deal proved to be just too difficult.

Indeed, Crystal Palace were, understandably, not so keen to lose both Michael Olise and Eze in the same transfer window, so they held firm on Eze’s valuation of £60m.

Factor in that Eze’s release clause was said to be a complicated clause that had to be triggered in one payment, and you can understand why Spurs were hesitant to get this deal done.

Of course, as Sherwood says, Tottenham do need that extra dimension in the midfield to help unlock defences, but, unfortunately, Spurs will have to make do with what they have now at least until January.

One thing is for sure, Tottenham need to find a way to reverse their current slump, because if this goes on for any longer, questions will be asked of Ange Postecoglou.
