Tim Sherwood delivers verdict on Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham future
that he is worried for Nuno Espirito Santo’s future as Tottenham manager – after Sunday’s defeat.
Tottenham were easily beaten by North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday evening, Mikel Arteta’s side cruising to a 3-1 win at The Emirates.
It has seen Spurs lose their last three league games, and go without a win in 90 minutes – if you count their penalty-shootout win over Wolves as a draw.
Indeed, Nuno has only seen his Spurs side win four of the 10 league games he has taken charge of – one of which was against Pacos de Ferreira.
The pressure is now enormous on Nuno. Asked about his future, Sherwood explained why he is seriously worried for the ex-Wolves gaffer at Spurs.
“I’m terribly worried,” . “He needs to go back to what he knows, and get a structure – what he knows is very pragmatic.
“He has always played with three at the back, a threat on the counter, he has the players to play like that. Go back to what he knows.
It’s not his fault that he’s at a club that want to attack, he didn’t employ himself. He must go back to what he knows – otherwise, he will not last.”

Sherwood makes a good point in that Nuno is trying to be something he is not. He is a pragmatic, defensive, play-on-the-counter type manager.
He is similar to Jose Mourinho. But he must stick to what he knows and trust his managerial know how, rather than adhering to the want of fans.
Return to a back three, something Spurs can do. Perhaps, Japhet Tanganga, Cristian Romero and Eric Dier at the back – or even Ben Davies on the left.
His back three formation was the platform for success at Wolves. Then, he can incorporate three midfielders, wing-backs, and combine two strikers.
Son Heung-min and Harry Kane, perhaps. It is time for Nuno to go back to basics, or go lose his job as Tottenham gaffer.
