Tim Sherwood believes Wolves are a ‘selling club’ and that one forward in particular could play for the Top 4 sides
Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered their ninth Premier League defeat by losing 4-0 at Goodison Park to fellow relegation rivals Everton.
Many Wolves fans voiced their discontent at the full-time whistle to manager Gary O’Neill and several of his first-team squad.
Craig Dawson became the fifth player to score two own goals in the same game in the Premier League era and was then subject to some crowd disapproval post-game.
News could yet get worse for Wolves fans however, as pundit Tim Sherwood believes they are a ‘selling club’ and one forward in particular could attract the attention of some big clubs.

Tim Sherwood believes Matheus Cunha could play for a top club
Speaking on Amazon Prime Video’s Every Game Every Goal show on Wednesday evening, Tim Sherwood lavished praise on Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
Sherwood stated, “He’s top drawer. Got a bit of everything but certainly goals. Good touch, great awareness around him and can play as a forward or just off the front man making those forward runs.”
After admitting he believed Wolves were a ‘selling club’, Sherwood then revealed which top four teams he could see Matheus Cunha playing for.
“I think he’s a Liverpool player. I think he’s an Arsenal player. He can play for any of the top teams.”
Arsenal have already shown interest in Cunha, who is deemed ‘too good’ to play for his current Premier League club.
Matheus Cunha has more goals than Kai Havertz and Darwin Nunez
The Brazilian striker already has 10 goal contributions this season and Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Cunha.
When comparing against the other top six strikers Matheus Cunha’s numbers this season prove Tim Sherwood’s point that he could play for a better club.
Striker | Goals | Assists |
Erling Haaland | 12 | 1 |
Nicolas Jackson | 8 | 3 |
Matheus Cunha | 7 | 3 |
Kai Havertz | 5 | 1 |
Darwin Nunez | 2 | 1 |
Rasmus Hojlund | 1 | 0 |
Cunha’s versatility will also catch the eye of any suitors with his ability to play striker, attacking midfield and even off the left-hand side.
With seven goals, a shot accuracy of 36% and a durable 1156 minutes played so far this season, it seems Wolves may have a struggle to keep their star man come January.
