Tim Howard says Everton have a player who’s genuinely ‘world-class’

Everton have had a handful of players in recent years who could be considered world-class footballers.

Romelu Lukaku was one of Europe’s best strikers in his pomp, and he scored for fun during his time with the Toffees.

Meanwhile, John Stones has established himself as top player over the past decade after making his name at Everton.

Of course, the Toffees have struggled in recent years, but they have still had some remarkable players.

Richarlison became Brazil’s number nine during his time at Everton, while James Rodriguez was brilliant for Everton for a period under Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking on , Tim Howard has been discussing Jordan Pickford’s ability at Everton, and he claims that the Englishman is genuinely a world-class player.

Jordan Pickford is world-class

Howard spoke about Pickford ahead of meeting him for an interview.

The former Everton star labelled Pickford as a world-class player, claiming that he has single-handedly saved Everton at times.

Asmir Begovic also called Pickford world-class at one point.

“Jordan Pickford is world-class, he’s been nothing short of sensational. He has been a brilliant servant to this club, he’s nearly single-handedly saved this club. What he is to this country as England’s number one, I’m delighted to be around him to pick his brain and to watch him. I can never get enough for Jordan Pickford, he’s fantastic,” Howard said.

Howard says that Pickford is a world-class goalkeeper, and he may not be too far wrong.

Of course, Pickford has played for a struggling team for most of his career as Everton have battled relegation year-on-year.

However, Pickford gets his chance to shine at the highest level whe he plays for England, and his stats for the Three Lions are simply remarkable.

There’s an argument to make that Pickford is one of England’s best goalkeepers of all-time, and, time and time again, he’s stepped up in the biggest moments for his country.

Everton have a great history of having top goalkeepers between the sticks, from Neville Southall to Nigel Martyn to Tim Howard himself.

Pickford has continued that legacy, and while he hasn’t been able to taste too much success at Everton, the goalkeeper has established himself as a true Everton legend in recent years.
