Tim Cahill suggests 30-year-old striker for Everton, many Toffees fans react

that he would like to see Everton sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa this summer to beef up Marco Silva’s attack – and Everton fans have agreed.

The 30-year-old striker returned to Atletico from Chelsea in January 2018 for a fee of £57million (), but has struggled in his second spell with the La Liga outfit.

This season, the 24-time Spain international has only scored five goals in 21 league and cup appearances. He has been booked more often, picking up eight yellow cards and one red card.

However, Everton legend Cahill believes the Toffees need a striker and Costa is the perfect addition to Silva’s side this summer – and is confident owner Farhad Moshiri can afford the powerhouse.

“I would say for Everton, Diego Costa. You just asked me for someone that I think would suit the style, the fans,” Cahill said. “Everton can pay the wages, and they can certainly afford him.”

Everton are certainly lacking in fire power up front. Dom Calvert-Lewin is showing glimpses of becoming a top striker, but Cenk Tosun’s £27million move from Besiktas has flopped. Oumar Niasse is on loan at Cardiff City.

Everton fans reacted on Twitter to Cahill’s comments, and backed their former hero by urging Everton to sign Costa. Many believe he would be an excellent signing for the Merseyside outfit this summer, despite his current form.
