Three ways Arsenal could make up for the loss of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

In breaking news this deadline day, Liverpool have signed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal for £35 million, according to .

With one year left on his contract, a move was always likely, and the Englishman has sealed a transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The 24-year-old, who has been playing as a right wing-back, wants to play centrally or as a winger, positions that the Reds can offer him.

The deal will please Liverpool and Oxlade-Chamberlain, who brings quality and depth to Klopp’s side, but, his former employees Arsenal won’t be too happy.

They now have a very short amount of time available to replace the winger. Here are three ways that they could fill the void left by Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Sign Julian Draxler

While signing Julian Draxler wouldn’t directly replace Oxlade-Chamberlain, it would be a good way to appease Arsenal fans.

The Germany international was impressive at the Confederations Cup and he has found chances hard to come by at Paris Saint Germain. As a result, German outlet  have reported that Arsenal have been in contact with the French club to enquire about Draxler’s availability.

If the playmaker was to join, it may lead to a change of formation from Arsene Wenger, meaning Oxlade-Chamberlain would’ve been surplus to requirements anyway. Draxler’s arrival, a tactical switch, and £40 million in the bank would surely represent a good deadline day for Arsenal.

Move Hector Bellerin into his correct position

The Spanish full-back has long struggled at left wing-back, but after Oxlade-Chamberlain’s departure, Bellerin could make the move back to his favoured position.

Bellerin would be a similar outlet to Oxlade-Chamberlain and it would also allow Sead Kolasinac, last season’s Bundesliga left-back of the year, to enter the starting XI.

His pace and power impressed in the Community Shield and, down the left, he could become one of the Premier League’s best in that position.

Promote Reiss Nelson

Like Oxlade-Chamberlain, Reiss Nelson is a winger by trade, but his versatility makes him a great option for the Gunners. The youngster impressed in the wing-back role during pre-season and it would be a wise move to promote him.

While he has little experience, his energy gives the Gunners a different dimension down the right and, in a back five, Nelson would have the ability to bomb forward knowing that he has cover defensively.
