Three things we learnt from Liverpool’s thrilling victory over Crystal Palace
Alberto Moreno proved himself
As news broke that an illness would see James Milner miss out at Selhurst Park, to be replaced by Spaniard Alberto Moreno, many Liverpool fans let out a sigh of desperation. However, Moreno proved them all wrong with a solid and promising display which showed vast improvements on the kind of mistakes which cost him his place.
Setting up Emre Can to open the scoring in the first half with a smart cutback, the former Sevilla defender hit the post himself and proved to be an attacking threat whilst remaining solid defensively and being careful with his positioning where he was previously too relaxed.
It remains to be seen if Moreno will retain his place in the starting eleven next weekend when Watford visit Anfield, with James Milner expected to be available for selection as he has rejoined training. Moreno will be hoping to have done enough, it is hard to imagine him having done much more, but Klopp will have a big decision to make.
