Three things we learnt from Leicester’s 3-1 win against Liverpool

Liverpool need a centreback with pace

Jamie Vardy’s first goal highlighted the fact that Liverpool’s backline is too slow. A pass from Mark Albrighton put Vardy in behind and when he latched onto the pass, it seemed that the only outcome would be that the ball ends up in the back of the net.

Lucas Leiva and Joel Matip found themselves too far apart and never looked like catching the Englishman. Leiva, a midfielder by trade, doesn’t seem to be the right partner for the composed Joel Matip. The Cameroonian looks like he needs a faster sidekick to allow him to bring the ball forward from the back.

Liverpool certainly need to resolve this issue in the summer.
