Three things we learnt from Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Burnley

Burnley should stay up with relative comfort thanks to home record

Despite the side taking only one point from this match, it could be seen as one of the best results of Burnley’s season. They managed to avoid defeat against the best team in the league and they could have got more if they had taken their chances. Andre Gray has hugely improved lately, with his pace and movement causing all sorts of problems for the Chelsea defence. David Luiz was suffering from a slight knee injury and it was clear that Burnley were targeting that. Sean Dyche’s game-plan was excellent and it begs the question why they can’t compete better on the road.

Their away record will be a disappointment, but it has been made irrelevant by their incredible home form. They continue to play well at home and they are now ten points clear of the drop zone. Before the season, they would have dreamed of their current position and it has been a remarkable achievement from Sean Dyche and his players. Burnley haven’t stayed in the Premier League for more than one season and that is set to change. There is a solid base to build on for next season and it will be interesting to see if they can push on from here.
