Three things we learnt from Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley
Burnley are set to avoid relegation with comfort
This is only Burnley’s third season in the Premier League and they have yet to stay in the division for longer than a single season. Football was, of course, played before the inception of the Premier League, but this stat highlights just how well Burnley have done this season. They are currently ten points above the relegation zone and they should be extremely confident about staying clear of the bottom three until May.
Their performance today was spirited and showed exactly what this Burnley team is about. During their last spell in the Premier League, they worked hard but didn’t have the quality to get the points required to remain in the league. This time around, they have focused on their home form and managed to turn Turf Moor into a fortress. However, today showed that they can compete away from home and they were unlucky not get a point after equalising in stoppage time. They have a balanced side and Sean Dyche deserves tremendous credit for the job that he has done.
