Arsenal have David Ospina to thank
In his first appearance of the season, the last thing that Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina would have been hoping for would have been to concede within a minute of kick-off, but the second choice ‘keeper ended the night as one of the Gunners’ heroes as he kept his side in the game with four quality saves.
Whilst Cavani could and should have scored more than just one goal, Ospina denied him time and time again as he sought to prove his doubters wrong as many at the Emirates are unconvinced that the 28-year-old deserves to start in cup competitions as Arsene Wenger rotates his two goalkeepers, though Petr Cech is the undisputed number one.
The former Nice man was the saviour for Wenger and his side and without his superb performance, the Parisians could easily have been out of sight by the time Alexis Sanchez scored what proved to be a valuable equaliser with twelve minutes left to go on the clock. Ospina is unlikely to get much Premier League action any time soon, but he certainly justified the opportunity to give him some minutes in Europe and domestic cup competitions.
