Three things we learnt as Lincoln City stunned Burnley in the FA Cup

The magic of the FA Cup is still alive

Heading into Saturday’s fifth-round clash against Premier League side Burnley, Lincoln City would have known that they were huge underdogs.

Their opponents had only lost three times at Turf Moor this season in all competitions, with two of these being against Manchester City and Arsenal, but the Imps defied the odds to cause a massive upset.

Lincoln were determined and brave from the first whistle on Saturday afternoon, not giving Burnley an inch of respect; they worked tirelessly to keep the Clarets at bay in a monumental effort.

At times Lincoln were even the better side – it wasn’t a snatch-and-grab win by any means – and the non-league side were unfortunate to not get on the score-sheet earlier than they did.

The Imps deserve their spot in the quarter-finals, and after adding Burnley to their list of FA Cup conquests this season, it proves that the magic of the FA Cup is still alive and kicking.
