Three things we learnt as Lincoln City stunned Burnley in the FA Cup

National League side Lincoln City caused one of the greatest FA Cup shocks of all-time after beating Premier League opposition Burnley in the FA Cup fifth-round at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The two sides were separated by 81 league positions ahead of the tie, but Lincoln matched their opponents throughout with a display full of grit, determination and superb discipline.

In a match of few clear sights of goal, the visitors had a glorious chance to go ahead within the opening five minutes but Jack Muldoon fired over when well placed inside the box.

Sean Dyche’s side offered more of a threat during the second-half, but the closest they came to an opener was when Andre Gray lashed wide inside the area as Burnley were frustrated.

The main drama was still to come, however, as Sean Raggett got his head on the ball in a crowd of Burnley defenders in the 89th minute and nodded over the line – despite the last-ditch efforts of Tom Heaton.

Lincoln will now take their place in the draw for the quarter-finals on Sunday evening as the first non-league side to make it to this stage since the 1913/14 season.
