Three things learnt from Liverpool’s 2-1 comeback victory over Stoke

Liverpool remain reliant on Philippe Coutinho, especially without Sadio Mane

Having missed much of training over the past week through illness, Philippe Coutinho was only on the bench for the visitors as a last resort. His introduction at half-time just went to show what a woeful first 45 minutes that Jurgen Klopp’s side had produced.

With Coutinho in the picture, the side began to apply more pressure, and the Brazilian’s whipped corner nearly found itself in the back of the net had Dejan Lovren’s head crept just under the bar instead of smashing off of it.

When the opportunity presented itself, the magician pounced to say composed with a great opportunity from 12 yards out to place the ball into the bottom corner past Lee Grant to draw the scores back level.

It may have been Roberto Firmino who scored the winner and who will take many of the plaudits, but for the second time in two games since Sadio Mane’s injury, Coutinho has scored a vital equaliser for Liverpool when they’ve found themselves behind against lower opposition.
