Three things learnt as Barcelona were hammered by Juventus in the Champions League

Barcelona’s away form is a worry

Another away fixture, another defeat as far as Barcelona are concerned; their latest loss away from the Nou Camp means that they’ve now lost two of their last three Champions League matches.

The manner in which these defeats have come about – 4-0 against Paris Saint-Germain and 3-0 against Juventus – have been more surprising than anything, with their inability to stop the flow of goals combined with their failure to find the net a sight that has rarely been seen in recent years.

It’s not just in Europe where Barcelona have struggled away from home either, losing two of their previous three La Liga matches as Real Madrid have re-taken pole position in the race for the title.

This away form could well cost them silverware this season, both on a European and domestic level, with a three-goal deficit against Juventus perhaps one step too far even for this Barcelona side.

There’s simply a fundamental problem in their back-line when on the road, seemingly unable to compete physically or communicate with each other when facing rampant strikers at their very best; it all means they’ve now conceded three goals in back-to-back away ties for the first time since 2000.
