Paulo Dybala’s double ensured that Juventus put one foot in the Champions League semi-finals after hammering Barcelona 3-0 in their quarter-final first-leg in Turin on Tuesday evening.
In a re-run of the 2015 final – where Barcelona were 3-1 victors on that occasion – Dybala opened the scoring after just seven minutes with a neat finish on the turn, firing into the bottom corner.
Minutes after Gianluigi Buffon made a superb close-range save from Andres Iniesta the Argentinian scored his second of the night, finding space on the edge of the area to rifle into the near post.
The visitors pushed for a critical away goal after the break but it was Juventus who extended their lead on the night when Giorgio Chiellini thumped a header past Marc-Andre ter Stegen via the woodwork.
The Catalan side continued to push, going close through Luis Suarez, but Juventus held out for a famous European victory that puts them in pole position to progress next week.
