Three tackles, five clearances: Leeds star produces dominant display as momentum continues

Leeds captain Liam Cooper was crucial to Scotland’s brilliant win over Denmark on Monday night at Hampden Park – and the stats prove as much.

Scotland produced a stunning 2-0 win to beat Denmark, thanks to goals from John Souttar and Che Adams. Denmark had won nine out of nine.

While the win does not change anything for Scotland, it will keep the confidence and momentum surging as they enter the World Cup play-offs.

Cooper has very much been a fringe player under Steve Clarke of late, but he was handed starts against Moldova and then Denmark during the break.

Last starting the 2-0 defeat to Denmark on September 1, Cooper helped Scotland beat Moldova 2-0 – and then got an assist on Monday night.

Cooper stats: Leeds star on fire with dominant Scotland display

It was a brilliant performance from the Leeds skipper. Playing every single minute for Leeds in the Premier League this term, momentum is growing.

Cooper is arguably in the form of his life. He headed a corner back to Souttar, who scored. But it was not just his assist that caught the eye.

Cooper produced more clearances than any other Scotland player, with five. He also made more tackles than any teammates, three.

Two blocks, three accurate long balls, an interception and 37 successful passes from a possible 44. A brilliant, dominant display from Cooper.
