Three signings Burnley should still make this summer feat. Liverpool star

Jon Flanagan

is due to join Burnley on loan imminently from Liverpool. Flanagan was a part of the Liverpool side that went within a single victory of winning the Premier League title in 2014, and even earned a call up to England’s preliminary squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Flanagan is very versatile and can play either as a left-back and a right-back, and is a particularly tough tackler. Following the loss of Kieran Trippier to Spurs last summer, Tendayi Darikwa stepped forward to fill the right-back berth last season in the Championship making 24 appearances.

Should he continue in the role he occupied last term, Flanagan may well be deployed at left-back. In Burnley’s last spell in the top flight, Ben Mee occupied this role, but he has since moved inside to his preferred position of centre back.

Trippier topped Burnley’s assist charts two seasons ago, evidence that Dyche’s men rely on the wide areas for service to the forwards. Flanagan is not quite as marauding a presence as Trippier, but will provide an outlet.
