Three players West Ham could look to pick up on a free in the summer
West Ham have often looked to the free transfer market to bring in talented and experienced players in the past. Although Manuel Pellegrini did not appear keen on that approach last summer, the club may look to return to that policy.
With some big names available on the market, the Hammers could certainly do worse than to ponder moves for some talented players to strengthen the squad.
Hector Herrera
A versatile central midfielder, the 28-year-old has been capped by Mexico 70 times and possesses strong technical ability. He seems to be the kind of player that Pellegrini is keen to add with his skill on the ball.
Able to operative in a holding role or in a more advanced position, his flexibility could also appeal. With no-one able to nail down a regular role in the West Ham midfield, he may be the first choice option the club are looking for.
Ander Herrera
With an uncertain future following the departure of Jose Mourinho, a battling midfielder like Herrera is just what West Ham fans love to see from their players. It’s also just what has been missing from recent acquisitions like Jack Wilshere.
The Spaniard would not come cheap but he would finally offer the Irons an option which is reliable and consistent whilst offering bags of quality in the middle of the park.

Daniel Sturridge
It looks inevitable that West Ham will spend yet another summer on the hunt for a striker to revolutionise their front line. One option may be the Liverpool forward, who continues to find the back of the net despite limited opportunities at Anfield, having scored four goals despite only starting five games.
His injury record may be a concern and he is unlikely to come cheap, but there can be no doubting his ability to finish opportunities off. At 29-years-old, West Ham may feel that there is still value to get out of a player who has proven to be prolific in the past.
