Three players that could leave Leeds in January 2020, including central midfielder

Leeds United are unlikely to make any signings in the January transfer window but they could be about to wave goodbye to a number of players next month – and here are the three most likely players to leave Elland Road.

Eddie Nketiah

The striker has failed to start a single match in the Championship for Leeds, as Marcelo Bielsa continues to place his faith in Patrick Bamford up front. That is despite goals for Leeds, England’s Under-21 side, and scoring on his starts in the Cup.

The Arsenal striker is now expected to have his loan cancelled in January with The Gunners unlikely to be impressed with his lack of opportunities. A return to Arsenal is expected, before being loaned elsewhere.

Jack Clarke

Very similarly to Nketiah, England Under-20 international Clarke is also struggling for game time – managing just one Championship appearance this season. Clarke, who joined Tottenham on a permanent basis, returned to Leeds on loan.

But the teenage winger has suffered from the EFL’s five-man loan rule, which allows just five players on loan in an 18-man squad. Leeds have six, meaning Clarke has missed. Clarke could return to Spurs, and move elsewhere.

Eunan O’Kane

The Ireland international went on loan to Luton Town at the start of the 2018-19 season but after a handful of games, suffered a double leg break. Now, he is finalising the stages of rehabilitation and is now able to pass a medical.

He is likely to be placed in the shop window come January, given that he last played for Leeds in May 2017. His contract expires in 2021, so Leeds still require a transfer fee for his services, but it is likely that Leeds will let the 29-year-old go for free.
