Three out-of-contract players Tottenham have got to consider
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to re-enter the transfer market this summer after failing to sign any players in the past two windows – and a central midfielder is likely to be at the top of their shortlist.
Mousa Dembele left in January, while Victor Wanyama is hardly the player he was when he first joined. Here are three top-quality central midfielders that are set to see their contracts expire at the end of the season.
Hector Herrera

The 28-year-old FC Porto captain is currently preparing to face Liverpool in the last eight of the Champions League. But his contract situation at the club looks likely to see him leave.
A perfect Champions League player, Herrera has shown his prowess with two goals in the competition this season. On a free, he would be an excellent signing for Spurs – not only in the league, but in Europe too.
Adrien Rabiot

Linked heavily with Spurs, the Frenchman’s contract is still set to expire. With Barcelona signing Frenkie de Jong, Rabiot is looking for a new home as his time at Paris Saint-Germain draws to a close.
Still only 23 years of age, Rabiot is only going to get better. Mauricio Pochettino is obviously a fan, but it is unclear whether the Argentine boss tempt the player with a move to Spurs. It would be Poch’s third signing from PSG in recent years, after Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier.
Ander Herrera
Bit of an unusual one, this. But with a matter of months remaining on the 29-year-old’s deal, Herrera looks like he could be about to leave Manchester United.
A niggly, aggressive character in the middle of the park, Herrera has been crucial under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Certainly, every team needs a player like Herrera, and Spurs need to add that ugly side to their game.
